CK Rewind – August Edition

Another month, another CK rewind – it has flown by so let’s recap on the last 4 weeks!

As mentioned in previous rewind editions, we are working towards our Better Health at Work bronze award and August was the perfect month to begin our Summer Campaign. The campaign focused on hydration and the benefits of physical exercise for both physical and mental health – our health reps Jaime and Emma hosted a 70K Step Challenge, a fruit infused hydration station and brought in a team from Well Being for Life (NHS) to conduct some mini health checks for all employees. The aim of the 70K Step Challenge was to reach 70k steps over the course of one week, it is recommended that adults should aim for 10k steps a day, our employees tracked their steps using pedometers or smart watches and recorded their totals at the end of the 7-day period. We then had a prize draw where an employee was picked at random to win a £50 Asda gift card to go towards their next healthy food shop. Next, our fruit infused hydration station, a range of fresh fruit to infuse our water with, we aimed to promote healthy alternatives to sugary drinks and snacks, our employees got their 5 a day and drank more water throughout their day! Finally, the team from Well Being for Life, a NHS service, have visited CK over two days to conduct mini health checks on the employees – the health checks included blood pressure checks, height and weight and BMI recording as well as giving any specific advice requested by the individual employee. It was a great campaign to get all colleagues involved and promote better health at work!

Following on from our Charity Football Match last month, we are pleased to announce the event raised £1,000 for If U Care Share Foundation – it was a great day and even better now knowing we have contributed towards a great donation, huge shout out again to our colleagues who took part and Sellick Partnership for inviting us down.

Some more good news for our colleagues this month, 3 of our CK employees have been shortlisted (out of hundreds of nominations) for a range of categories in the Saga Success Awards. Jaime Havery, our marketing graduate has been shortlisted for the extraordinary award for Colleague Champion. This award goes to the colleague who has made an outstanding contribution throughout the year to supporting their colleagues and is always pushing to improve the colleague experience at Saga (CK is a business unit that is part of Saga), outside of their daily role. This may be through Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), Wellbeing and boosting colleague engagement and morale on internal comms. As well as this Sam Heathcote (Head of HR & Managed Services) and Paul Anderson (Head of Digital & Systems) were shortlisted for the Customer Champion of the year award. This award goes to the colleague who has had an incredible impact on our customers at Saga / CK. From exceptional customer service to constantly going above and beyond, this person is always putting our customers first and making sure our customers experience exceptional every day. The nominees will be attending the award ceremony in September, congratulations again and good luck to you all!

We recently posted an article on our website about how CK are responding to the increase in Royal Mail wholesale prices – It is no secret in the industry that Royal Mail Wholesale prices have been increasing year on year, unfortunately we are now not only seeing a second increase in 2023 but a double digit one – set to rise on 2nd October 2023. Although the team here at CK cannot influence the price change, we can adapt our capabilities and expert knowledge to produce a bespoke solution package for you, maximising postal savings whilst not sparing quality and timely results.
